About Pianezza, Italy

Nestled in the heart of the Piedmont region, Pianezza is a charming town with a history that stretches back to Roman times. Located near the vibrant city of Turin, Pianezza offers a perfect blend of cultural heritage and natural beauty. The town’s roots go deep, with its first mention dating back to 985 AD, and it was once an important stop on the Road of France during the Roman era. Today, it remains a peaceful, family-friendly town, known for its welcoming atmosphere and scenic surroundings.

Pianezza is home to several historical landmarks, including Roman-era remnants and medieval structures, and it celebrates its patron saint, Madonna della Stella, on September 12th. The town’s geography features a mix of flat terrain and small hills, with views of the surrounding mountains, including Mount Musinè, and the nearby Dora Riparia river, offering breathtaking landscapes.

Our Connection

Lansing and Pianezza have been Sister Cities since 2018, a partnership that continues to thrive with active cultural exchanges. In 2018, a delegation from Lansing traveled to Pianezza to formally establish the Sister City relationship. Since then, the partnership has grown, fostering deeper connections between the two communities.

In 2024, a delegation from Pianezza visited Lansing to participate in the 30th Anniversary of the Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission event. This visit marked a significant milestone in the Sister City relationship, reinforcing the strong ties between our cities. Looking ahead, Lansing plans to send a delegation to Pianezza in the fall of 2025, further strengthening the collaboration and exploring new opportunities for cultural and educational exchanges.
