In a surprise honor, LRSSC President Emeritus Barbara Roberts Mason was awarded the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Award at the Annual MLK Commission Luncheon on January 16, 2023 by her friend and colleague Mr. Tony Baltimore. In her remarks, Roberts Mason stressed the urgency of action and the importance of facilitating and embracing change.  Further, Roberts Mason was featured in the City Pulse as one of 2023 City Pulse People.  Her continued contributions were highlighted in an interview with Khalid Ibrahim, including her appointment to LRSSC and the founding of the Black Child & Family Institute (now know as Building Child & Family Initiatives.
